The Robotics Lab of the Applied Engineering Research Group (GIIA) has a long experience in Robotics Research, covering different aspects of Industrial Robots, Autonomous Vehicles and Laboratory Robots. I the last years the laboratory has specialized and focuses in Underwater Robotics and Technologies. We count with different low-cost commercial underwater robots, sonar systems (echo sounders, scanning sonars, side scan sonars, Doppler sonars, USBL sonars), and inertial sensors. We have developed a framework for controlling and monitoring the robots, in which we have integrated our own developed underwater positioning system, which allows our applications to georeference inspected underwater objects and trajectories. We have produced some applications which include 3D bathymetry, ship hull inspection, fish farms servicing, etc. For this last application we have developed our own robust Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
